Forget flowers and choccies and even diamonds, we want gadgets

women.jpg

We all know the saying 'diamonds are a girl's best friend'. Well, this could soon be a thing of the past with diamonds being replaced by all things gadgety. According to a recent survey, every three out of four women will choose a pricy and glitzy TV over a diamond solitaire necklace, a high-end mobile phone over designer shoes and the very much loved little black dress will take a backseat for the iPod.

Ditch crappy laptop sound with Urban Outfitter's laptop speaker

speaker laptop.jpg
This seems like a very good idea indeed. Having spent a lot of time in hotel rooms listening to music through my tinny laptop speakers, the idea of having something small you can bung into the USB port makes sense. Girls Aloud just isn't the same unless you can hear the full nuances of their lyrics.

Core body temperature sensor - your own personal Innerspace

Have you ever wondered what temperature your small intestine is? Yes? Me too! God, we're probably the only two people in the whole world who have ever wondered that. Thank god we met like this! This post is for us - just us. No one else. Small Intestine Temperature friends 4eva.

PC power: Computers are going to get very exciting over the next 25 years...apparently

16 May 2008 15:36:00 | LucyHedges | Tech News
PC.jpg

By 2033, PCs will have taken on 'many different shapes and sizes', and the PC of this era will be a million times more powerful than today's PC systems. How unbelievably amazing would it be to control your computer by just thinking the commands? I know I've thought about controlling my computer with my mind many a time and so wish it was a reality.

Nineties Flashback: Baldur's Gate RPG Game

zara rabinowicz.jpg
Zara Rabinowicz Writes... Maybe it's the fact that I just flew to Oslo for the launch of the latest MMORPG game from Eidos (the Age of Conan if you must know) but it got me reminiscing about the time I first started out in RPG's. It wasn't any of your final fantasy fluff that so many people seem to start with (who wants to spend 2 minutes summoning a power?) no, it was hardcore PC action, the world of Baldur's gate. The game was released in 1998, and started me on my on/off love affair with the RPG world. I love how it sucks you into this esoteric landscape that's populated with mystical beings, and starts consuming every waking minute, and I hate it for exactly the same reasons.

The future is here and it's Thrrum

I've just read a press release that made me check the calendar to make sure it's not 2019. Don't worry, it's not, but this new service has surely come from the future to bring us the future of search.

Not just another automaton: This is the world's smallest humanoid robot

16 May 2008 12:34:00 | LucyHedges | Toys
isobotnew.jpg
I am a keen lover of robots and have a few proudly on-show around in my house for when I feel like a bit of robotic action (not that kind of action - I'm not a freak)!! The i-Sobot from Tomy is the world's smallest humanoid robot in production, well at least it is according the Guiness Book of World Records.

Fizz cup - gadgety in a 1950s kind of way

16 May 2008 11:58:00 | ScarlettSusi | Home Appliances
icecream soda.jpg
OK, this shit is weird - totally fulfilling a niche I was unaware existed up until today. According to Firebox, ice cream sodas are a big part of summer (just think, I've only had half a summer every year, totally unaware of what I was missing out on). But the logistics of mixing ice cream and fizzy drinks on the move can be a bit of a mission. Well, no longer!

The Microwave/ Toaster combo. Not as good as the Kettle/Toaster

Now I'm sure you remember the fab kettle/toaster combo I brought you last week, as it seemed an ingenious time saving idea. Not so this microwave and toast

A solar-powered bra (yes your eyes do not deceive you) has been developed in Japan by lingerie maker, Triumph. It was unveiled on Wednesday as being capable of generating enough electricity to charge a mobile phone or iPod.

Friday Video Fun: Again and Again on the Mac

16 May 2008 10:22:00 | ScarlettSusi | Web Fun
This video has made me very happy indeed, which is no mean feat bearing in mind the state I find myself this morning (bad red wine, bad, bad). It's probably one of the geekiest and therefore loveliest music videos I've seen in ages, and it doesn't hurt that it's a pretty brilliant song too.

Samsung T10 gets all flower full

inline;'>4-30-08-t10floral.jpg Remember how excited we got when the YP-T10 got produced in a selceion of rainbow shades? If you enjoyed that I'm sure it's latest makeover will fill you with goosebumps. I'm not sure how many of these flowery models will be in production yet, but i really like the engravings etc

MP3 sunglasses: Protection and entertainment combined

16 May 2008 10:11:00 | LucyHedges | Accessories,Audio
mp3.JPG

I'm guessing the premise behind these wireless MP3 sunglasses is to offer convenience and style (???) together in one bundle. Convenience, I guess so (if you've always wanted a pair of glasses attached to headphones). Style, hell no! They look like they'll fit right in at the Tour de France and seem better suited to sports enthusiasts and men who wear shorts when they really shouldn't.

Digital luggage scales for those last minute checks before heading to the airport

We've all been there. So concerned with packing EVERYTHING into your suitcase (including manky old sandals which you probably won't wear but brought 'just in case') that by the time you've crushed your clothes in you haven't realised just how over your luggage really is.

An energy saving remote for some eco-friendly channel changing

All for one and one for all. You must be wondering why I've begun this post with the motto of the three musketeers? It's because I'm writing about the One For All Energy Saver, that's why. I was trying to be clever, can't you tell? It's also because I've been writing about quite a lot of energy saving gadgets recently, and there's only so much witty things I can say about being eco-friendly so I thought I'd opt for a change with this one.
