That gold/black theme is sooo phpBB 2002 We will tread the safe grounds with the dark one, however with the lighter one it will be a whole new experience!

Try adding more RAM to that Cyrix Pentium of yours On a more serious note, theme files are loaded once, then cached locally., ready for using. As for the RAM, that is due to a lot of plugins we have....
